So my buddy Jason Rubin had a “work dream” about SEOing for Ham Sandwiches in SoDo. Let’s see how fast we can get this post ranking for “ham sandwiches in SoDo”. I’m writing this post at 11:09 am on 2/11/09. Lets start the c lock….

Back By Popular Demand…A food review!

So on Saturday night I stayed home and got some work done and thought to myself, “Self, you haven’t ordered a pizza in a while”. I visited Dominos and then the Pizzahut site. Then something occurred to me. While I was just visiting these sites only to see if they had any specials, I could order straight from the website! Isn’t that straight out of movie from the mid 90’s?

Since these companies have invested a lot of money and marketing resources into this new feature of convenience, I figured I might as well give it a test run. After figuring out which “flavor” of pizza I wanted (Dominos or Pizzahut) I settled on Pizzahut. The registration portion of Pizzahut’s site was relatively pain free. The only pain in the neck were a couple of boxes I had failed to check (we’ll chalk that up to operator error).

The over all experience of ordering online was actually kind of cool. I didn’t have to call anyone up and ask, “Yeah, what are your specials?”. And even better, the person answering the phone probably didn’t have to answer the same dumb question 157 times that night. And to top it off, the pizza got delivered in about 25 minutes. What a deal!

So, on to the food! Well, it was a Meat Lover’s Pizza and Breadsticks. It tasted just as good as the last 43 times I’ve ever ordered Pizzahut pizza and breadsticks. Go figure.

McDonald’s Southern Style Chicken Biscuit

Over the weekend I had the opportunity (or misfortune) of eating McDonald’s new “southern style biscuit”. If I were from the South, I would launch a class action suit against McDonalds for defamation of character, slander, and libel.

This biscuit was the most tasteless, overpriced piece of fast food I have eaten in years. I was so overly disappointed with the entire meal that if I could speak with whomever put it on the menu, I would give them a swift kick in the ass.

Not to sound picky, but if I’m going to spend just under five bucks for a meal, I expect value. With strong competition from other fast food joints, namely Subway and Quiznos, I recommend that everyone spend their time and money a little better than on the McDonalds Southern Style Biscuit.

Quarter Pounder Sans Cheese

The McDonalds at the corner of 3rd and Pine St. is always a zoo. Today was an exception to that rule. It was quiet, the service was fast and the food was fresh and tasty.

Today’s menu selection was a Quarter Pounder w/o cheese, fries, and a coke. It was probably the best looking McDonalds burger I’ve seen in a while. The fries were piping hot right out of the fryer and the coke, well McDonalds does Coca Cola better than Coca Cola.

According to the nutritional information from the McDonald’s website, the Quarter Pounder has 410 calories and 19 grams of fat and a large McDonalds fries have 570 calories.

Now why is it that I still enjoy the food at McDonalds when I know its not entirely good for me? When I figure it out, I’ll let you know.
