South Lake Union 4th of July

In my five years of living in Lower Queen Anne, this was my first time catching the Lake Union fireworks show. I met up with some friends at Jabus (I know, weird) and then we proceeded to grab some beer from the QFC and then on to a small house party. We hung out for about an hour and then made our way up the hill to try to find a good vantage point.

We were successful! We found a random empty lot that had an awesome view of the lake.

Overall, the fireworks show was decent. I was expecting something a little better. The show’s I’ve caught from Alki have been better.

Overall, not a bad night.

Memorial Day: May 26, 2008 Part 2

Well this year’s Memorial Day weekend is over. It ended up being a good weekend while still being productive. I was able to get quite a bit of work done on some personal projects. For those of you who know me, this probably comes as no big surprise because I am a self proclaimed “workaholic”. On the other side of being a workaholic, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. All of this work is close to paying off (I hope). If it doesn’t, I’m moving to Mexico to live on the beach.

I Needed To Create A New Category

So I’ve created another category this morning. This new category will be all about holidays and will include those pesky times that are holidays but aren’t employer recognized holidays.

So, ninety-nine times out of a hundred I am usually taking the bus to wherever I need to go. Work, Downtown, etc, it doesn’t matter. If I’m going anywhere close, I’m taking the bus. It’s so much easier taking the bus rather than drive, fight traffic, fight to find parking, and so on.

So for the last couple of days I’ve found myself driving to work. Now I know you’re asking, “Ryan, how does this relate to your new category of Holidays”. Well, this week happens to be “Earth Day”. Apparently, all week is “Earth Day”. The irony is I am all for reducing my carbon footprint and here I find myself driving a Dodge Ram 1500 for all of a six mile round trip. I’m feeling a little guilty but I know that I’ll be taking the bus tomorrow.

As far as upcoming holidays go, you’ll have to return to see me express my delight or loathing and I know Cinco de Mayo is around the corner. You’ll have to stay tuned to see which site of the street it falls on.
