Cell phones – New Law (2008)

by ryantodd on July 2, 2008

**Disclaimer** I lifted this from an email my friend Mandy sent me. Not Original content but sure is post worthy.

According to new law that goes into effect July 1, 2008 you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving unless you have a ‘hands free’ adapter.

A friend of mine went to Circuit City and they wanted $50 for a headset with a microphone for my cell phone. Having a friend in the cell phone business, I talked with him and was able to come up with an alternative, working through Office Depot.

These kits are compatible with any mobile phone and one size fits all. I paid him $0.08 each because he bought in quantity.

Then we tried it with Motorola, Sprint, Verizon and Nokia units and they worked perfectly.

A photo is attached so scroll down & take a look and let me know if you want one.
Also, forward this to anyone you know, who has a cell phone, and who may want one!

I can hear you laughing. I thought you could use a laugh. WE ALL NEED TO LAUGH MORE……HAVE A GREAT DAY!

UPDATE: Sorry Dustin and Jim, I couldn’t resist…

To follow a great post over at Rain City Guide, a group of people that will be heavily impacted by the new law will be all real estate agents and brokers. In this post, they do run the gauntlet in discussing every conceivable hand set and head set ever made. This post should be a great reference for the rest of us.

I thought this happened a year ago! And just think I could have been talking in my car this whole year. The million dollar question is….Is talking on your cell phone a primary or secondary offense?? In other words, do you have to get stopped for something else to get a ticket for the cell phone?

At first, I really missed “using” my drive time for chattering, but now that I am broken of the habit I have to begrudgingly agree that it’s probably safer for people to pay attention to driving. I don’t think hands free is the solution either. Just having a conversation takes your attention from the road.

The cell phone law is a secondary offense. Here’s a good article in the Seattle Times. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008017992_cellqa26m.html
