Dinner at Anthony’s in Richland

by ryantodd on May 4, 2008

Whenever I go home to the Tri-Cities, my parents, brother, and I usually have dinner at Cedars or Anthony’s. This time it was Anthony’s. My brother and I got there a few minutes before our parents did (this was in no way related to us doing Mach 5 in Mom’s Camaro on Highway 240).

As soon as we were sat, we were met by our server who took our initial drink order. My parents started with a bottle of chardonnay and I stuck with the iced tea. Now, something that I was pleasantly surprised with was the wine sommelier. He was very knowledgeable and even recommended the 2005 Cold Creek Chardonnay which ended up being better than their first choice. The whole reason why I was pleasantly surprised is because that was the first time I had seen a restaurant in the Tri-Cities use a sommelier.

We started dinner with a couple order of their clams. They were excellent. These clams were on the bigger side and the sauce was perfect. Also, the sauce was a simple lemon and garlic concoction that had butter on the side.

After the clams, we moved on to the soup salad. My Caesar salad was perfect. The plate was chilled and the crisp lettuce was perfectly coated in dressing. After we finished our salads is where the meal took a slight turn.

Since the table was in perfect position to see the kitchen, I was able to see the kitchen push out food and not a single server to run it. Long story short, our food died a little in the window. Don’t get me wrong, the food was still good. But it could have been perfect if the timing had been on.

I had the Sturgeon. It was a little tough (see food dieing above). Overall, it was tasty but a little tough. I would probably order something different next time.

At any rate, I really enjoy eating at Anthony’s in Richland. The dining experience is top notch most of the time and it’s hard to expect a restaurant to bat a thousand.
